BRIEF HISTORY OF VILLAGE MOTOR TRADERSThe business started September of 1990 as a sub-dealer of HONDA SUPREME ROXAS, INCORPORATED and was technically a part of VILLAGE MARKETING, (Kalibo), then located along Martelino Street, the present site of VILLAGE MOTOR TRADERS Kalibo Plaza branch.
The first batches of motorcycles were the HONDA XL-125, the TMX-155, the SR-125, the TMS-125, the C-70 and the TRENDY. Only the HONDA branch of bikes as well as power products was carried. These were consignment terms, with a thirty (30) day payment period after sale. The generous terms were made possible by the excellent credit record of Mr. Simeon M. Arce Sr., owner of VILLAGE MARKETING and his close relationship with Mr. Pablo Chu ( a fraternity brother), of solid Merchandising Roxas City, the majority stockholder of HONDA SUPREME, ROXAS.
The newly established business was capitalized by Mr. Arce’s daughters, El Jose Mari, HONDA products were also displayed in CATICLAN VILLAGE MARKETING, a newly opened store in Malay, Aklan owned by Mr. Aldecoa, also selling appliances. In 1995 other suppliers were tapped like DU EK SAM INC., in CEBU VIC IMPERIAL, PO’S MARKETING and this paved the way for VILLAGE MARKETING to sell other brands like Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki. Consequently, the company had to hire additional employees to serve the needs of the growing number of customers.
The continued success of the expanded brand lines and the encouragement and support of his in-laws made Mr. Aldecoa decide to separate the business on January 16, 1996 as VILLAGE MOTOR TRADERS a separate entity from Village Marketing Kalibo. The new company put-up its own office, service shop, spare parts store and display center at the corner of Roxas Avenue and Pastrana Street, Kalibo, Aklan. Slowly but surely, it expanded and opened various branches
